Product Innovation? Too Right!

Let’s be honest, it is not everyday that something comes along in the office
products world that makes you go “wow, that’s fantastic!” More often than not,
it's the little things in life that change the ways of the world. Like the moment
when, your presentation is over, the idea still floating in your audience’s minds,
you finally gather your pages and close your file. Does the snap of metal jaws
break the spell, or their pinch on your fingers strain your confident smile?
Not any more! Leitz have come up with a ‘soft-click’ solution to presentation
binders that is quite simply genius.

Security of computing equipment is a
concern for everyone, with the Christmas
break rapidly approaching here are a few
tips
to help secure your computing
equipment and sensitive data.

Building Security

  • Receptionists are a company’s first defence against intruders: encourage them to challenge people coming into the building so that potential thieves are not able to reach valuable devices.

  • All personnel should be identifiable. This begins at the reception point where a visitor should be registered and supervised by an authorised member of staff.

  • Employee should be encouraged to be vigilant and challenge strangers.

  • Have an end of the day procedure for checking the building to ensure that no one is hiding in it.

  • Make sure the office is properly locked up at night.

  • Entry/exit doors should be assessed in terms of ability to withstand an attack. This means making sure that the door and frame are in good condition and strengthened with a multiple locking system.

Further information to ensure the security of your
premises can be found by following this link.
If you would like to discuss the security of your
computers and accessories we would be only too
pleased to offer our support and advice.

Are you sitting comfortably? Forearms, Wrists & Arms Monthly IT Tips
Whilst laptops have integral pointing
devices, it is recommended that
users use a separate keyboard and
mouse. It is also recommended that
using gel keyboard rests and wrist
rests to reduce the risks of forearm
and wrist related illnesses such as
tennis elbow and carple tunnel
syndrome are a good idea.

For millions of people Google is an indispensable
search tool that they use every day.
But instead of just typing in a phrase and wading
through page after page of results, there are a
number of ways to make your searches more
efficient. Here are a few useful Google search tips;

Quotes: If you want to search for an exact phrase,
use quotes. ["lined note pad"] will only find that exact
phrase, whilst [lined "note pad"] will find pages that
contain the word lined and the exact phrase "note pad".

Not: If you don't want a term or phrase, use the
"-" symbol. [-lined note pad] will return pages that
contain "note" and "pad" but that don't contain "lined".

Definitions: Use the "define:" operator to get a
quick definition. [define:supplier] will give you a
whole host of definitions from different sources.

Site-specific: Use the "site:" operator to search
only within a certain website. For example,
[site:thisislondon.co.uk rumours] will search for
the term "rumours" only within the website at
www.thisislondon.co.uk.

  • Avoid bending hands up at the wrist when typing, (wrists
should remain at a similar height to the keyboard and mouse).

  • Forearms should always be parallel to the floor

  • The bottom of the elbow should also be level with the home
    row of the keyboard.

  • Always use a gel keyboard wrist rest and mouse pad wrist
    rest for comfortable use.

  • Always use a separate keyboard with a laptop.

  • Tip: Wrist supports offer comfort and support whilst you work,
helping to alleviate pressure points and work in a more
    productive and healthy position.
